Robot Squirrels Are Taking Over is a social deduction game where the players can become one of two roles- Acorn People or Robot Squirrels. Those who are Acorn People must work with other members of their team to find out the robot squirrel(s) are in order to save the Acorn Civilization. Players win (with their group) by playing a certain amount of the cards that align with their group. Acorn People play acorn cards, Robot Squirrels play motherboard cards, and anyone can play "sapling" cards that allow for new abilities for the entire table.

This project was created for a class that focused on the principles and overall aspects of game design. Alongside Jenna Perkin and Tyler Mitchell, I worked to create the character art and item designs for our game. Each of our team members had a role in creative input as well as playtesting to improve on the overall game flow.

We initially wanted to develop a computer game of a similar theme where players would level up using a skill tree with a combat area, but due to time constraints this idea was scrapped. Our focus shifted to an analog card game, thus creating Robot Squirrels Are Taking Over.

NOTE: As of 3/2023, I redesigned the cards for a more polished and cohesive look for a separate project, currently displayed on the first slide. The cards are currently in their second draft, as new feedback from a group critique will be applied. This redesign challenged me to rework the initial design concepts I produced, leading me to shift to dynamic posing and more engaging backgrounds. The cards were resized and the text was reformatted for legibility and accessibility. This has continued to fuel my excitement with continued development on this project- something I have wanted to continue since the initial draft.
